Catholic and Loving it!

Just so as you know, I haven't actually stopped blogging. Real life has just kind of stepped in for a while to take it's place.

Our Landlady is selling our house... I mean her house. She's moving down south and she needs to sell two houses in Hull to buy one there. It all makes sense really. Only it does mean we have to find somewhere else to go and live.

Buying?

We can't afford to buy... nobody believes us so they keep introducing us to friends of friends who arrange mortgages and when the mortgage arrangers confirm we could manage about 72k for a house nobody believes us that houses cost more than that. They do.

Renting?

In last years floods half the rental properties in Hull were flooded and put out of action. The other half is now full of people who have had to move out of their flooded house. The insurance companies are paying £800 a month rent. We can't compete with that.

So what to do?

Well, not blogging seemed like a start. I've been spending my days in front of Rightmove and Mailhomes. Every now and then we find something... we haven't lost hope yet. But it is a full time job.

Just so you know, we found a house! The rent is 5% higher than our last house but the house is about 5% bigger so it's all fair. There's no handy drive but there is a garage around the back so we'll see how handy that is for parking later...

Where is it? I'm not going to tell the whole interwebs where we live! It should be sufficient for you to know that according to Google Earth we are moving a mere 350 metres (as the crow flies) from where were are now.
