You don't sound convinced...

"The Vatican is the hill in Rome where Saint Peter is supposed to have been martyred in 65AD"
Says the Catholic Bishops Conference of England and Wales... right here.
Hey, St. Peter! What are you doing here? You're supposed to have been martyred....
At least they never said CE.

My understanding of that statement is that it is the *location* where St. Peter was martyred that is under question, rather than whether he was martyred or not.
and they are right; noone KNOWS where St. Peter was martyred, they just think it was on Vatican Hill.
Sheesh, why dont people give the English Bishops a break instead of non-stop insulting them on every single blog in this country. It's pathetic how people are just so desperate to misinterpret and assume the worst about all the Bishop's intentions. Bet it makes Jesus happy...NOT

Did it not occur to you that you were assuming the worst about James?
I wouldn't have blogged what he did (and I think that you're perfectly right in pointing out that he misinterpreted what they said - although it is conceivable that he did this purely for the sake of a weak joke) but neither would I call it anything more than poking fun. It certainly stops short of "non-stop insulting". Is it not allowed to quote Bishops' statements now?
Calling people pathetic is definitely an insult however. And "desperate" isn't a lot better.
