A Joke...
Blogged by James Preece on 31st August 2009
Q. What's the difference between Terry Pratchett and Terry Prendergast?

A. One has been heard speaking about a bizarre fantasy world of his own creation and the other is Terry Pratchett.
Alternative ending...
A. One of them gives talks at conventions to people who like to dress up in costumes and act out fantasies with other men and the other is Terry Pratchett.
Another alternative ending...
A. Archbishop Vincent Nichols has heard of Terry Pratchett.
Oh no! Not another alternative ending...
A. When Terry Pratchett features in the news as contradicting the Catholic Church, you can find mention of Archbishop Vincent Nichols objection in the next paragraph...
Terry Prendergast made his comments on marriage over seven weeks ago and Archbishop Nichols has done nothing!
Now that's a joke.

Remember dear Mr. Preece - it's the traditionalists who are "inexorably distancing" themselves from the church, when they criticise the ordinary form.
But Terry Prendergast just has a different view...

Keep hammering away on this one James. Archbishop Nichols has flunked his first major leadership test. It is an outrage that he has allowed this to pass without condemnation. Marriage Care remains 'Catholic' in the sense that it is still in the Catholic Directory and the Archbishop is still on the board of trustees.

I second what Sean says: don't let go of this one, it is a scandalous sin of omission and injustice. Of course, not only does the Bishops' Conference of England and Wales fund Marriage Care, it also funds CAFOD, an organisation led by a man who has a close domestic relationship with one T. Prendergast Esq. What a coincidence! No condemnation by Abp. Nichols of CAFOD's stance on condoms either.

What's the story about CAFOD and condoms?

I think this pretty much sums it up.

one should get one's facts right
the cafod connection is to a an ex Carmelite M Pendergast NOT T Prendergast.
The CEO of Marriage Care is married to a lady even though he did train for the the de Montfort Fathers. what's disturbing is not the ALLEGED silence of +V Nichols but the fact that the CEO of MC personally handed a copy of the resource "Home is a Holy Place" to the Holy Father. question: on whose authority? question: either said 'resource' is sound or T Prendergast's opinions are implicit in "Home is a Holy Place"
