Catholic Education Service Response

We are pleased...
Is there anything they wouldn't be pleased about?

You think I'm joking?
Here's an excerpt from the actual Catholic Education Services press release...
CESEW responds to proposals relating to Sex and Relationships Education and parental rights
Whilst disappointed that legal encumbrances mean that a blanket right of withdrawal can no longer apply, we are pleased that the Government has recognised that the right of withdrawal in formative years is most critical and is therefore providing for the ability of parents to opt-out of SRE up to the age of 15.
CESEW will continue to firmly uphold the position that parental rights remain vital, particularly but not exclusively, in those most formative and critical years up until the age of 15.

I wonder if Archbishop Nichols has anything to say on the matter?

Thought not.
Parents. Betrayed. Again.

The CES have cuddled up to Ed Balls on home education as well. The consultation response (which has vanished from their website I notice) showed such shocking ignorance of the rights of families and what home education is and yet no one was bothered that the response went in.
I would like to hear bishops standing up firmly for the rights of families in this country.

Yes, I too would like to hear something firm and unambiguous from our bishops on this. For real media impact, it has to come from them: however cracking his homily, a priest is unlikely to have much impact beyond his parish. A priest writing to his bishop is also not likely to make much impact. A priest mobilising his parish and getting them all to write to the bishop would register more on the episcopal awareness scale, particularly if preceded by much prayer & penances.
With Henry VIII, most of the bishops flopped. With Elizabeth, they had woken up to the consequnces of a Church severing itself from papal authority and most of them acquitted themselves very well, then. But it was too late!!
What will it take to wake these guys up??
We're sending out all the wrong signals: the State needs to hear the truth about parental rights.

I'm not sure if Fr Brown is his real name, I think he's probably a fan of Chesterton's detective novels who is using the name as an alias.
