I can't imagine there are many people who read this blog and do not know by now that the government has accepted all the major recommendations of the latest report from the Teenage Pregnancy Advisory Group.

I can't imagine any of you are suprised to find that this includes...

State clearly that all schools including faith schools must teach all aspects of SRE within the context of relationships in an anti-discriminatory way; contraception, abortion and homosexuality are all legal in this country and therefore all children and young people should be able to learn the correct facts.

Make explicit links to young people's advisory services and provision of contraception and sexual health services and demonstrate this by teaching young people how to access services.

The removal of the restriction on promoting condom use before the 9pm watershed.

I can't imagine any of you are suprised to hear that this all happened two days ago and so far the response from the Bishops Conference has been...

You could have predicted that because it's exactly the same thing they said that last five hundred times the government attacked the rights of Catholic families.

In fact, it hardly seems worth blogging since you know it all already.

Yet the CES maintains that governing bodies will decide the content of PHSRE programmes in schools!!

How dare this dictatorial government decree that we shall not act in accordance with our religious beliefs?

What do they have to be afraid of exactly? Based on the huge media reaction I would say only about six people are bothered and none of them are Archbishop Vincent Nichols.

To the Blessed Virgin Prayer for England

O Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God and our most gentle Queen and Mother, look down in mercy upon England thy "Dowry" and upon us all who greatly hope and trust in thee.

Plead for us thy children, whom thou didst receive and accept at the foot of the cross.

O sorrowful Mother! intercede for our separated brethren, that with us in the one true fold they may be united to the supreme Shepherd, the Vicar of thy Son.

Pray for us all, dear Mother, that by faith fruitful in good works we may all deserve to see and praise God, together with thee, in our heavenly home.

Amen.

Couple's Prayer

O God, our heavenly Father, protect and bless us. Deepen and strengthen our love for each other day by day.

Grant that by thy mercy, neither of us may ever say one unkind word to the other. Forgive and correct our faults, and make us constantly to forgive one another should one of us unconsciously hurt the other.

Make us and keep us sound and well in body, alert in mind, tender in heart, and devout in spirit. O Lord, grant us each to rise to the other's best. Then, we pray thee, add to our common life such virtues as only thou canst give.

And so, O Father, consecrate our life and love completely to thy worship, and to the service of all about us, especially those whom thou hast appointed us to serve, that we may always stand before thee in happiness and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.
