Hot Air Balloon Over York!
Blogged by James Preece on 1st August 2012
There's a lot going on this year with the Royal Jubilee and the Olympics but we've had a few milestones of our own. We both turned thirty this year and on Monday it was our seventh wedding anniversary.
Ella and I have always wanted to go up in a hot air balloon so yesterday we took a ride from York Race Course. It was super awesome, even if it did mean waking up at 3.30am!

We saw the sea (the shiny bit)...

Did you drift vaguely northwards in a Virgin Balloon flight? If so, I saw you from my bike on my way in to work!

We did indeed - though I may have neglected to wave!

Congratulations on your anniversary! And I'm very jealous of the balloon flight: always fancied that. Maybe for our 30th...

happy 7th anniversary to you both! Long may you prosper and be blessed as a couple and as a family. You are both a great witness to matrimony

Many congratulations on the anniversary - here's to many more.
You won't catch me flying in a laundry baskey with some inflated nylon above, however.

I am very envious! It is on my list of things to do before I die.
When I lived in the Chilterns we had many balloons fly over us on fine summer days for there was a launch site about 5 miles away. The folk in them always seemed so happy so it must be an uplifting experience in more ways than the obvious. My dog hated them though and would chase them over the fields barking his head off. What he imagined they were I have no idea, but it saved me a walk!
