I have no idea who Monsignor Basil Loftus is. I've been blogging eight years and paying quite a lot of attention to the Catholic Church in England and Wales for most of them and Basil Loftus has never appeared on my radar screen. Apparently he writes for the Catholic Times - he obviously writes the bit nobody reads.

He threatened Fr Ray Blake with legal action and then realised that not only was Fr Ray Blake "his own size" but probably a bit bigger so now in a maneuver worthy of something one might wipe of your shoe, he has decided to sue somebody a bit smaller instead.

Fr Mildew is an elderley priest with a small (e.g. about as popular as mine) blog. He writes...

I regret to inform you that I am faced with an impossible situation. Mgr Loftus has refused to accept my apologies and threatens me with action in civil and church courts. As a result I am very worried and will speak to our Archbishop. However I will not be posting any further blogs and may well shut down completely pending resolution of this matter. Please pray for me.

To the Blessed Virgin Prayer for England

O Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God and our most gentle Queen and Mother, look down in mercy upon England thy "Dowry" and upon us all who greatly hope and trust in thee.

By thee it was that Jesus our Saviour and our hope was given unto the world; and He has given thee to us that we might hope still more.

Plead for us thy children, whom thou didst receive and accept at the foot of the cross.
